Being a Brooklynite, Sinkane got a taste of how one prepares for disaster during Hurricane Sandy. A person must stock up on necessities; food, water, first aid, and booze. But what if the disaster is potentially our last day on earth? Well for Sinkane, born Ahmad Gallab, he plans to disappear into the ether or fight off flesh-eating zombies and winged-demons to a soothing soundtrack.
In preparation for the looming Mayan judgment day, Sinkane sent us his End of Days mix, an hour-long mix spanning pysch-rock, both American and world, dub reggae, afrobeat, disco BeeGees, and of course, Marvin Gaye. If we hear the Bee Gees' “Inside and Out” on December 22, we'll know that Sinkane made it through the biggest hellfire storm this world has known. If we hear “Springtime Again” we'll be scouring the city for an Arkestra that takes us two by two to a new bliss.
