Queens rapper T. Shirt flipped Purity Ring's Shrines LP quite literally. The original tracklisting of Shrines is upside down and trimmed to its most beat-friendly moments. When we discovered T. Shirt via Rich Hours, we took to his slick storytelling skills and tough-mindedness. On his Shrines mixtape, he's interested in pursuing territory beyond the gritty New York sounds. The hip hop influence in Purity Ring's highly-lauded 4AD record is evident without the presence of Young Magic on “Groundloves”, but T. Shirt's gruff voice permeating the ethereal production strengthens the Montreal duo's rap cred.
