Australian glam-punks The UV Race announce a new 7-inch called Queens of Punk out later this year on No Patience. The self proclaimed “smartest band in the world” began their US tour this past Saturday in Los Angeles, a month of shows that takes them through to the Northeast and winds up in Austin, TX at the Chaos in Tejas Festival. The band is so smart in fact, that last year they released a feature full length film entitled Autonomy and Deliberation with a soundtrack LP to accompany it.
As you might expect, the UV Race don't sound like your typical punk band. They've become known for an unusual blend of catchy pop and all the grit and glitter of first-wave punk. “Glam” is the first of four new tracks on the Queens of Punk 7-inch. It's a mid-paced romper, with horns and keyboards to boot. The vocals pay tribute to a late-70's British punk era, and yet backing choruses of ooh's and ah's bring out a different feel altogether. Listen to “Glam” and check the tour dates below.
