Having recently played a show with Fleet Foxes in Seattle, The Walkmen decided to pop into local radio station KEXP to perform a some songs. Rather than regale with their memorable songs like “The Rat”, the band decided to play some country hits by The Man in Black himself – well, sort of.
Dedicating the whole session to cover songs the band started the ball rolling with “Darlin Companion” before moving on to the Bob Dylan hit “Wanted Man,” in what the band described as a “Johnny Cash style” in spite of admitting it wasn't particularly a Cash song. From there the band played more Cash-esque songs like “The Auld Triangle” and “Mr Lonesome”.
You can check out the whole KEXP session and the accompanying interview for yourself here. The tracks are available to stream and download at OneThirtyBPM.
The band revealed that they are going to record their new album in November in Seattle.
