WebsterX has seemed to exist comfortably below the radar. Residing in Milwaukee, the New Age Narcissism collective member has become a major contributor to a scene that’s unheralded compared to that of Midwest hub cities like Detroit and Chicago. After some listens to his insular, unrestrained music, it’s understandable why his sound could be played to the margins – that’s a shame though. He and the rest of his collective has been releasing some of the most boundary-pushing, uninhibited music in past years.
Perhaps in a bid to catch a drift off of Chicago’s good mojo, WebsterX has recently signed with Chicago-based closed sessions, who will distribute his as-of-yet-unnamed debut album.
WebsterX also released “Blue Streak” yesterday, a welcome return to the game after an 11-month hiatus. “Coulda been low, but I rose,” he spits on the chorus. The track is what fans have come to enjoy from WebsterX, with his raspy vocals spraying over producer Four Giants’ smooth trap-influenced composition.
He rose and he’s still ascending. Not much is known about the album yet, but “Blue Streak” is a great way to tide us over until then. You can listen below.
