Brooklyn-based producer Wingtip – Nick Perloff-Giles, for those of you who don’t know – has been dropping jaws with his latest releases. And we can see why. His compositions are nearly flawless, and he’s continuing to stun with the artists he’s choosing to work with. Case in point? Sophie Strauss, whose vocals light up his new track “Rewind”.
The painful, highly-relatable lyrics are delivered through Sophie’s beautiful, raspy voice as she discusses rewinding back to the beginning of a relationship. The fun, high-pitched sound effects over the track can’t hide the pain that is so well portrayed. The song’s character is light, mid-tempo, and perhaps even a dance track. But it’s absolutely a reminiscing-inducing song, to be enjoyed with good friends and good drinks in the midst of the changing of seasons.
“I wrote a song about both the seasons changing and your feelings about someone changing, and workshopped it with my very talented and dope friend Sophie Strauss over a couple of months, and this song just sort of came into being,” Wingtip says about writing “Rewind”. “It’s about love and loss, but also just about how things change slowly, and you don’t notice until you pick your head up and wonder what happened.”
