Wooden Shjips, “Back to Land”

Post Author:

If the wobbly font and bursts of color on Wooden Shjip's forthcoming album Back to Land are any indication, the San Francisco space rockers will be dabbling in some pretty heavy psych-rock territory. One need only listen to last week's slowburner “These Shadows” to get a taste of the band's penchant for humming guitars and bluesy solos. Fortunately, Wooden Shjips have released the title track to their much-anticipated fourth LP. “Back to Land” is a harder-rocking slice of what the band has to offer, wedding the lush acoustics of “These Shadows” with the energetic jams that defined their early work.

Back to Land is out November 12 on Thrill Jockey. You can catch Wooden Shjips on tour in the upcoming months in the U.S. and Europe.
