Roughly translated as “sacred” from Spanish, Anenon’s Sagrada release is an ethereal intermarriage between the structured and the free-form.
Out in September on his own Non Projects label, Brian Allen Simon’s production alias produces delicate explorations of the esoteric and sublime. A project meant to incorporate both his studio sessions with his free form and saxophone-focused live shows, it’s an album full of lush, slow-burning sounds dotted by the occasional howl of a tenor saxophone.
The first peek into the album comes in the form of “Karma”, which is ripe with oscillating synths, a chug-a-lug groove and muffled drums. And if it’s any indication of what else lies in store for us on Sagrada, we’ll have plenty to look forward to, as you can never have too otherworldly of an audible experience.
