Apollonian Sound is a small, intimate label run by Tim Woulfe, Elaiza Santos, and Nora Einbender-Luks. The project, which has recently produced tapes by Fraternal Twin and Sitcom, is unique in the sense that each release supports a charity in some way. The label is now taking the concept a step further with Visiting Waters, a series of splits that benefit an organization picked by the participating bands. The first split has Radiator Hospital and Algebra II supporting the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, an organization that “works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence.”
In the words of the label:
We settled on splits because we thought it would be a good way to give artists we love an outlet outside of the traditional album release cycle + give support to artists / bands who are just starting out. ALL money coming in goes to the charity, and it’s important to specify that because a lot of charity releases I see reference the charity but usually don’t say anything about how much is going to it. Which is the most important part! As long as everything goes according to plan, one should be happening once a month.
