Captured Tracks announced a new signing, this time taking the form of a young outfit from Catalonia, Spain called MOURN. The four piece delivers heavy indie rock jams with a playfulness that you could only find in youth.
Their first song for the label, “Silver Gold”, is a sludgy track, drowning in slippery distortion and Pixies-esque fire. Carla Perez Vas has an intimidating shriek, as if she’s throwing a tantrum into the microphone, like a Spanish version Sunflower Bean. Oh and apparently there’s a bonus track on the album called “Boys are Cunts”.
Their self-titled debut, slated for February 17, was recorded live in the studio in two days.
