After a successful Kickstarter campaign two years ago, Zack Taylor and Steve Smoot, cassette adorers both, were able to fully fund a documentary that covers the resurgence of their beloved tape. The documentary, called Cassette, and which you can see a trailer for below, highlights the path tapes have taken, from their initial introduction in the 70s to their push-out by the mighty CD, and their return and height in our times. The filmmakers were able to reach out to a host of musicians who are also tape cultists, like Henry Rollins and Daniel Johnston, and got a chance to do some investigating into the last American tape company standing, National Audio Company. It looks like this is a well researched history of a format we've always loved.
