The Los Angeles house duo formerly known as DJ Dodger Stadium have announced they will be embarking on a mini-tour around the US and Canada later this fall under their new moniker DJDS.
Consisting of Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy, the name change was announced in August following the release of the duo’s single, “You Don’t Have to Be Alone” and with the tour announcement, a new single titled “In the Flames”.
On “In the Flames”, an obscured vocal sample builds over an airy synth. The fog on the vocals finally settles during the piano chorus breakdown giving way to the singer’s plea, “will you be there when I need you?”
“You Don’t Have to Be Alone” features a piano riff polyrhythmically layered atop the drumbeat as the lyrics repeat, “you don’t have to be alone” until around the three-minute mark when the singer elaborates, simply adding, “again.” On the surface, what sounds casually forlorn is actually a deceleration of affirmation.
While Jerome LOL’s ascension as a solo performer is well-noted, he was actually one-half of DJ Dodger Stadium with Samo before all the world tours and coveted remix collections. Now people, in a few cities at least, will get to see them together.
