Drugdealer (Mike Collins, formerly of Salvia Plath, Run DMT) has just announced his debut album, The End of Comedy. It will be out Sept 9th via Weird World. It was produced by Ariel Pink and features collaborations with Weyes Blood, Ariel Pink, Sheer Agony, members of Mac DeMarco’s band and more.
Alongside this announcement, he has officially premiered the music video for the lead single “Suddenly”, a track that features the insanely ethereal vocals of Weyes Blood. “Suddenly” is a nod to vintage soft rock, piano heavy and psychedelic in all of its vibey, mid-tempo glory. The video features sheep running in slow motion, the gorgeous Weyes Blood walking on a rural trail while singing, and an old Mercedes, among other things. The style–both of the way they shot the video, as well as of the objects and people in the video–is absolutely a nod to yesteryear.
If this song is any indicator of what’s to come from Drugdealer, we’re very excited.
The End of Comedy will be out Sept 9th via Weird World. It is available for pre-order on iTunes, DomMart, and Bandcamp.
