Eat Skull posted the single, “Where’d You Go” from the Portland punk bands upcoming 7” of the same name. It's Eat Skull’s first release since the band’s 2010 Jerusalem Mall 7″. If the single is any sign of what we might get off of their upcoming Woodsist LP, the band has shed some of their lo-fi fuzz and cleaned up their sound a bit.
“Where’d You Go” still maintains Eat Skull’s punk roots, but it feels more like the band steeped their guitars and synths in 80’s post-punk, pulled them down in the mix with the defined and featured vocals. It's a departure from the bands guitar heavy, hardcore noise aesthetic they’ve served up in the past. The 7” also includes the tracks “Medication Time” and “Jefferson Angel” and will be available from Volar Records in January. For now, enjoy the 80’s glory and speculate.
Purchase the “Where'd You Go” 7″ in either red or gold vinyl individually or as part of the Strange Mutations Vol.1 7″ set featuring Audacity/Big Eyes, Beaters, Stalins of Sound, and Far Corners here.
