If you couldn't tell by our incessant posts on bands like Porches., Palehound, Ovlov, and more, Exploding In Sound Records, the small Boston label that turned into a behemoth over the past two years and through a move to New York, is one of our favorites. Consistently releasing album after album of verifiably good shit, EIS is not messing around, and with that comes greater responsibility and a larger output. Today it was announced that Exploding In Sound will join the Frenchkiss Label Group, who will now distribute their digital output, with a possibility to turn into their physical distribution in the future.
And if that weren't a cool enough development, Disco Doom, who are currently on tour with Built To Spill (!), released their first single from their upcoming record out on EIS in the US, called “Ex Teenager”. You can stream that below, especially if you're a fan of the Jim Roth sound, all driven and immaculately balanced and mixed. It has this one line in it that is reminiscent of the melody in “Pure Imagination” from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, but it immediately slips down into a well of sharp oblivion. That record, a S/T, comes out in December.
The last of all things EIS is that their CMJ showcase has been announced, the flier for which is below. This is the lineup that dreams are made of. Check out “Ex Teenager” within this post, RSVP to the showcase here, and read up on our Labeled feature with Exploding In Sound from a few months back. Bro love, indeed.
