Copenhagen's Lust For Youth didn't plan to have a new record barely a year after the release of Perfect View on Sacred Bones, it just happened that way by chance.
Hannes Norrvide of Lust For Youth recorded his first three LPs as a solo act, but last year when it came time to tour the US he enlisted the help of Loke Rahbek of Vår. The two performers initially returned to the studio, along with new member Malthe Fisher, to record two songs. Weeks later, the trio was on the verge of finishing International, a record inspired by their out of place existence as touring artists. If past records aligned LFY closer to rave or no wave, International is a the big pop moment in which those signifiers soften, the lo-fi isolationism is removed, and the conversation regarding the Copenhagen youth music movement has to include LFY. On album opener “Epoetin Alfa”, Hannes and his bandmates storm the gates with a pulsating anthem that has a triumphant backbeat, capturing the immediacy of the recording sessions.
Lust For Youth's International is out June 10 on Sacred Bones. The deluxe edition will be shipped with a bonus cassette featuring remixes by Silent Servant, Total Control, Helm, Chelsea Wolfe, Cult of Youth, Marshstepper, and more.
