Sweden has proven to be a music powerhouse over the last decade with pop acts like The Knife, Lykke Li, and Robyn earning international success and renown. Makthaverskan, with their fantastic debut and follow up record II, ostensibly follows this lineage, but their punk roots and outsider attitude suggest a rather unapologetic divergence. The Gothenburg-based rockers are back on tour in the US this October after visa issues forced them to cancel east coast dates earlier in the year. They’ll be co-headlining with Copenhagen band Lower, who has a new EP I’m A Lazy Son, But I’m The Only Son out September 11 on Matador Records. Makthaverskan’s II is out now on Run For Cover Records and check out their “Shot by the Band” photo gallery here.
