Mexican Summer and Ballroom Marfa will present a mini-festival together this March 13-15 in Marfa, TX (coincidentally the weekend before SxSW); a program that includes music, cinema, and visual artists with an emphasis on cross-medium collaborations. The event is titled “New Myths” and the music portion of the event will include Iceage, Grouper, Tamaryn, Steve Gunn, Weyes Blood, and more.
Dev Hynes and Connan Mockasin will both be there as well, working together on a recording residency. Liz Harris of Grouper will have an outdoor mural on display, and there will be a sound bath by Jefre Cantu-Ledesma. Other performances, film screenings, and visual art exhibitions are happening as well. Despite Marfa’s posh reputation, the first two days of the event are free, and the final day pass is $15.
