Mykki Blanco is on a roll—his IRL undertakings are almost outpacing the manic energy of his live sets. Blanco’s latest project is a label called Dogfood Music Group (sharing a name with Blanco’s 2014 mixtape Gay Dog Food), an imprint of !K7.
The first release, dubbed C-ORE, will feature new tracks by Blanco as well as three of Blanco’s friends and collaborators: Yves Tumor (LA-based Rahel Ali/Sean Bowie/TEAMS, who also arranged and produced the compilation), PsychoEgyptian (Brooklyn-based Devin Cuthbertson), and Violence (Palmtrees Caprisun, via Brooklyn/Baltimore/LA). All three artists are boundary-defying multi-disciplinary multi-instrumentalists producing music at the intersection of hip hop, noise, electronic composition, and sound collage; exploring dystopian futurism, information overload, and ambiguous relationships with technology. As per Blanco’s vision, all artists are also rooted in visceral, transcendent live performances.
All this is to say that C-ORE is sure to be very next level. It’s out September 18.
