When we curate our annual Austin Imposition shows, we make a valiant attempt to book bands we’ve never had grace the lavishly regal stage of the Longbranch Inn. Sometimes we make exceptions. In 2014, Pile played the Exploding In Sound-curated night we hosted at the ‘Branch, and with a new album in tow, You’re Better Than This, released earlier this month, it made total sense to ask the Boston stalwarts back to headline our own night on March 19.
Piled atop an eight-band bill, “your favorite band’s favorite band” took the stage at around 1:30am. Luckily, NYCTaper, who battled through sleep deprivation to painstakingly record all of the bands on this night, was still on-hand to catch Pile’s set. Recorded with Sennheiser cards mounted on a stand directly in front of the soundboard and mixed with a board feed, you can stream the live version of “The World Is Your Motel” below.
