After a prolonged hiatus following 2005's highly lauded Yoyoyoyoyo (even Thom Yorke loved it!) party-rap harbinger Spank Rock has returned to drop his sophomore LP, Everything Is Boring And Everyone Is A Fucking Liar. It's due out September 27 on Bad Blood Records, his own label, and, as its title suggests, it's going to be a deliberate departure from his old sound– incorporating club rap, pop, rock, and electro influences with a more polished result.
Everything Is Boring And Everyone Is A Fucking Liar features production work from Boyz Noize, longtime Spank Rock collaborator XXXChange, and Sam Spiegel of N.A.S.A, as well as guest spots from Santigold and Big Freedia, the undisputed 'Queen Diva' of Bounce music. According to a press release, it contains “verses about industry frustration, love, and listless dancing, ultimately humanizing a musician as he metamorphoses into an artist,” along with a healthy dose of hedonism.
