2002 might bring up memories of Avril Lavinge, the iPod craze, or the premiere of Big Brother. But that same year The Walkmen released their debut album Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone and started on an amazing journey of making great music. 2012 marks The Walkman's 10 year anniversary and the band has announced shows in Chicago and San Francisco that will commemorate the anniversary. An Evening with the Walkmen will come to Chicago January 14 and San Francisco January 20 and 21. Tickets go on sale this weekend. The band also plans on releasing their 2002 album Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone on vinyl for the first time. It will be like one giant slumber party with your favorite band after all these years.
Next month the band will start recording their sixth studio album with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The Shins). The album is set for a summer 2012 release on Fat Possum/Bella Union.
