Twin Peaks the television show is back, and though it’s still too early to confirm it will last longer than the two shows of relevancy that the new X-Files endured, its cultural legacy among independent musicians is surely sealed. As further evidence, we present to you the stream of Xiu Xiu performing the music of Twin Peaks as commissioned by Australia’s Gallery of Modern Art for their David Lynch: Between Two Worlds exhibition.
Produced by Jherek Bischoff and mixed by Greg Saunier, the ensuing recordings were put to vinyl and CD as Plays The Music of Twin Peaks for Record Store Day and immediately sold-out, even landing the band on the Billboard’s Top 200. This Friday, Polyvinyl is making the record available again digitally, with a second pressing due out in August.
