Amar’e Stoudemire was supposed to bring the heat back to Madison Square Garden. He signed a five-year, $100 million dollar contract four years ago, but a series of injuries and coaching/GM changes throughout his tenure as a Knick left Stoudemire searching to find his Phoenix MVP form. With his playing time reduced to primarily being a (very expensive) bench player, and with the team re-tooling (see: dumping for a lottery pick), New York bought out the remainder of Stoudemire’s contract over this weekend. No longer a Knick, Amar’e wrote a poem to the city of New York.
