It’s not every day that I get to see old friends from Texas perform here in New York CIty. It’s even more unusual that I get to see old friends from a Texas punk band perform with their country/cowpunk band here in New York, but that was what this past Monday night had in store for me when I caught Vandoliers and Sam Morrow at the Knitting Factory.
I’ve previously known Vandoliers singer and frontman Joshua Fleming from his former Fort Worth-based punk band The Phuss. In the past few years since, he’s brought together a group of talented musicians performing rollicking country tunes with a very punk rock energy.
Vandoliers is currently on tour with bluesy fellow Texan singer-songwriter Sam Morrow. You can catch both acts on tour until their return to Texas on May 7th.
