The legendary DJ brought classic rave vibes to NYC along with opener Syreeta
This past Saturday night (technically Sunday Morning), legendary English DJ Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, delivered classic rave vibes to a euphoric, packed out crowd at Knockdown Center in NYC. Performing a free-wheeling warmup for his set at Movement in Detroit, Fatboy Slim performed a mashed-up medley of many of his own tracks, while also remixing tracks from Talking Heads (“Burning Down The House”), Incredible Bongo Band (“Apache”), The Ramones (“Blitzkrieg Bop”), and many other classics.
Taking the stage at 2 a.m. and spinning until 4, he operated behind the decks with huge energy and intensity, riling up the crowd to stratospheric levels start-to-finish. The area behind his DJ booth was crowded with fans dancing and singing along Boiler Room-style. Earlier in the night, Syreeta offered the crowd a dynamic opening DJ set of her own.
