The fest returns to Chicago’s Union Park on Sept. 10-12 with yet another killer lineup
Chicago’s very own Pitchfork Music Festival returns September 10-12 with a full femme-first lineup. Marking the fest’s 15th year, headliners Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, and Erykah Badu bring lots of excitement to Chicago’s Westside. The lineup perfectly pairs folk and R&B acts along with psych-rock, beat music, and indie including Angel Olsen, Flying Lotus and Big Thief. While the headliners are exceptional, there are many acts nearing the bottom of the lineup that you don’t want to miss.
On Friday, Chicago natives and “loners” DEHD perform at 2:30 P.M. The ambiguous group has crafted an eclectic and powerful palette of indie-rock on their 2020 record Flower of Devotion. Live performances of “Flood” and “Loner” are sure to start the weekend of music off right.
The Soft Pink Truth hits the stage at 4 p.m. Friday with a melodic experimental grouping of ambient electronic music. His music offers a lush dive into minimalistic sounds offering something you have never heard before.
On Saturday, rising Latin group Divino Niño takes the 2:30 slot on the festival’s lineup. Their discography plays between the perfect mix of smooth rock and psychedelic melodies. Their 2019 EP Foam dances through songs “Quiero” and title track “Foam” fronting a diverse collection of hits.
She knows she’s funny, haha. But we know she’s talented. The Atlanta singer-songwriter Faye Webster released her newest record I know I’m funny, haha this past year following her massive success with her first record Atlanta Millionaires Club. Her music is silky like butter and her lyrics are as comedic as they are soft. Faye rocks the stage at 4 P.M. Saturday just before psych-legend Ty Segall and his Freedom Band play at 5 P.M.
Last but not least, R&B’s scientist turned singer Mariah The Scientist performs at 3:20 p.m. at the Red Stage. The singer-songwriter’s RY RY WORLD arrived in 2021 with a bang of honest narratives and pungent imagery along with features from Young Thug and Lil Baby on “Walked In” and “Always n Forever.”
