Simen Søgnen is the musical polymath of Oslo, Norway who writes and produces every song he writes for Old S Resort. With influences such as The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, Kate Bush and Steely Dan. Søgnen is also inspired by many current artists like Tame Impala, Bood Orange, Grimes and Mac DeMarco.
Simen has been apart of the music scene for quite some time now, in 2011 he joined a band named “Fold” which launched his music career forward. Then after departing from “Fold” in 2016, he released a few EPs with one of his good friends under the name “Norte” late 2016. Before Søgnen released his first EP in spring of last year he says,
“As much as I enjoyed those projects, I wanted to see if I could do something with all of my own songs.”
“Whisky” is a forthright jam speaking about the thrill the distilled spirit brings. Then you start to hear the hindrances from the malted grain once you get further into the track.
