The aim for many an artist was reached by Berlin-based group Bakery in the creative process for their new track “Go In,” the latest single from their debut Lucy album. The trio has cultivated a versatile, genre-bending brand of experimental soul that explores psychedelic and trip-hop elements. Their latest track is a mellow, thoughtful number with bluesy guitar play piercing through a thick, atmospheric palette of synths and reverb.
The band says via email that the soundscape was crafted “at 8am on a Tuesday,” then quickly sent over to singer Austin Paul, who provided the vocals to the track. With a voice carrying a measurable angst and lyrics like, “I was holding on to the ways of night, before I found you in the daylight,” Paul proved a glove fit for the track.
The track’s video tells the narrative of an orange grown in one place and ate in another. The gloomy black-and-white visual is flowing, and dramatic, as ambitious as the .
