Cosmonauts, “A-OK!”

Post Author: Meredith Schneider

Punk/psychedelic mish mosh rock stars Cosmonauts – now comprised of Derek Cowart, Alexandar Ahmadi, James Sanderson III, and Mark Morones – have been making glorious music together (and with a varying ensemble of musicians) since 2009, when Cowart and Ahmadi met each other in Orange County. Their musical resume includes three full length albums, and extensive tours across the US and Europe. Today, they release their latest offering – A-OK! – and we’ve got the video premiere for the title track exclusively for your eager eyes.

What is happening in this video? The band comes in slowly, layered in gorgeous, vibrant color over each other like a kaleidoscope, a black background enhancing the vividness of the scene. (The colors in the video are slightly reminiscent of their nod toward the vibrant with their limited edition color vinyl, but I digress.) The video is like pop art come to life, with wispy smoke – What is that, DRUGS? – dancing around them as their heads float around slowly throughout the frame.

Oooh, sparklers! Keep those sparks flying!

They look pretty unamused, but that goes along with the tempo of the track. it’s more psych than punk this time, and their hazy eyes tell a story all their own.
