When I was in England sometime in the early part of this young millennium I found myself being verbally ripped by some guy in Manchester for wearing a Belle and Sebastian t-shirt. He kept calling it “poof music” over and over, which gave me the impression that the guy really was not a fan of literate, baroque pop.Something tells me that Englishman would fucking hate Princeton.
I have seen the trio a grand total of three times over CMJ and I think that for all intents and purposes, they are producing some of the finest twee stuff around.
Sometimes calling to mind the aforementioned Glasgow outfit, other times sounding like John Cale totally ripping The Kinks (or vice-versa, I'm available to go either way), and now adding another dimension with new songs I heard live, the band almost reminds me a bit of what Yacht is doing, but with a twist of all the artists mentioned above.
