Don't let Rivers Cuomo and Michael Stipe citing the Feelies as a major influence keep you from the pleasures of Crazy Rhythms.
The Village Voice declared The Feelies the “Best Underground Band in New York” back in 1977. Its debut Crazy Rhythms gets the seminal influence treatment by the coolest musicians ever. Plus, it was part of the glory years of Stiff Records. Basically, The Feelies fall into that ever-growing canon of criminally ignored bands of their time that us kids love to re-discover and to use as music-knowledge superiority over our peers.
Crazy Rhythms and The Good Earth are getting the re-issue treatment with bonus tracks for each record. Patiently wait for summer – the re-issues should be out when the weather turns.
Even better news: The Feelies will play a couple east coast shows.
