As nasal as the Beastie Boys, but willfully whiter (“I know you know my rhymes are colder than oldness so put on your V-Neck”), the Yah Mos Def are a Philly based duo that bring a contemporary punk attitude back to their hip hop. Their upcoming LP starts with the sound of someone tuning a guitar and spots references to GG Allin and zines and their live show recall Best Fwends or first generation DeathSet.
