Magik Markers' September 25 LP BOSS takes off like some alien side project; it's a collection of bluesy (albeit noisy) songs, not the ecstatic mess they've been known for at their live shows. With piano ballads and up-front vocals, it's a bold first studio LP for a band that's built its reputation on something completely different. Their first video, for “Taste”, rolls out a disparate series of vignettes that revolve around violent domestic outbursts, pigeons, and slow motion power jogging. It's arguably the visual noise to their sudden coherent sound. Or, it's got something to do with “wasting me, wasting me / eating up more than a taste of me / this time chasing me / takes of me / uses up more than it makes of me.”
They've also announced American tour dates for the month of October.
