Seattle-based producer and musician Aaron Holm has released a new track called “Catch A Falling Star”, and it’s a story of a father’s love for his child and the heartbreak that he felt when he heard of the tragedy that struck Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The whole nation felt the despair from those events, and Holm was no exception. Holm elaborates, “As I heard the news of the school shooting, first graders were the victims, I pulled to the side of the road and cried. The voices in this track soothe broken hearts and the loss of innocence and brings the boy full circle from childhood to fatherhood.” We have the exclusive premiere.
The track starts out with a recording of “Catch A Falling Star” that Holm’s daughter’s first grade had played and the teacher sent out the recording on the morning of the shooting. The recording fades out as shimmers of instrumentals replace it. More layers of sound join in, and you can’t quite tell where one ends and the other begins, all of the sound just comes together like one single organism. It swells and recedes but the momentum keeps building, and it’s beautiful as the sound soars and slowly crescendos. The music slowly dissipates at the end, until there is nothing left.
This is a truly incredible piece.
