Chronicling Carroll‘s move from Minneapolis to Philadelphia, As Far As Gardens Go is a 10-track, soundscape of the cosmos, packed into what must be one crazy dream. Heightening the complexity in this sophomore album, As Far As Gardens Go is both deep and instrumental. Having felt like they were pushed into unexpected places, their music explores what separates us as people, and what pulls us to look beyond.
“Red Giant” is a standout on this record, and a personal favorite, charging through an intimate look into what must be a longing for elsewhere. Carroll even details As Far As Gardens Go was recorded “everywhere but home”.
“Easy Target” serves as a fork in the road on this record, the following tracks taking a turn toward an emphasis on vocals, interlaced with welcomed synth accents as the credits roll on “Goat”. As Far As Gardens Go was mixed by Jon Low (The National, The War on Drugs, Mr. Twin Sister), and is available as of today, 11/11! They’re on Facebook and Bandcamp. Check out their stream below:
