Just when you thought 2016 was finally over and there wasn’t any new music left, Cat Has Claws sneak a track out there for your listening pleasure. The Providence via Attleboro, MA synth-rock duo consisting of guitarist Julie Bozek and keyboardist Matt Hebert convey a groovy and heartfelt vibe with “Irregular Lines” that’s being premiered on Impose Magazine today. There’s an edginess that melds with glistening electronic tones. It’s strikingly unique and at the same time being beautifully organic. Bozek and Hebert always manage to bring a little extra something to the forefront with each song they play and their latest is an excellent continuation of that trend.
“We wanted to put out a song to showcase our new sound since transitioning to a two piece with electronic drums”, says Hebert on Cat Has Claws’ artistic progression following the departure of drummer Buck St. Thomas earlier in the year. “Serving as a preview of the direction we’re taking, “Irregular Lines” demonstrates the cohesiveness we’ve built together as band. We’ve been digging deeper into our own experiences while working on our new material, and this song captures some of our emotions as of late.”
Cat Has Claws will be performing at Dusk in Providence on New Year’s Eve with Attleboro bluesy jam shredders The Dead L.A., local punk energizers Zero Holds and new wave weirdos Xr-Tabs.
