When it comes to naming his shamanistic beat excursions that blend psych with hip hop, Al Lover has a tradition of cutting to the root of his sound. It began long ago when Impose Records curated his Satanic Tambourines cassette, which was followed by the Heavy Hippies collection. Today, Cool Al Lover announced his latest record, Sacred Drugs, set for release early October.
Venturing further into the physical world, Al Lover’s Sacred Drugs will be released on vinyl via Psych Army, home of The Difference Machine, and on cassette via Crash Symbols. To commemorate the announcement Al Lover unleashed “Super Strength (Power Plants)”, featuring fellow psych-mastermind Morgan Delt. On “Super Strength (Power Plants)”, the psychedelia is subdued to a low drone of warm jets and sky bound guitar solos, while Delt incants other worldly chants to beckon the sacred drug’s power.
Sacred Drugs is out October 1 on Psych Army for vinyl and Crash Symbols on cassette.
