Nothing gold can stay, especially when that gold is in New Jersey, and a sad announcement comes this week from the best venue in the Garden State, Maxwell's of Hoboken. Maxwell's was a mainstay for any music lover who lived in North Jersey and New York, and in a lot of cases, Maxwell's would end up hosting shows that not even New York City could touch. Todd Abramson, owner of the club, said in an interview with NJ.com that “the culture in Hoboken is driven by TV now. A lot of the bars downtown are fighting with each other for who has the most giant TVs. That's what Hoboken nightlife has become.” And if there is anything sadder than that, link me now. I have fond memories of shows I've seen there through my years, and if you ask anyone who has spent time in the Tristate area, you can guarantee that they would agree. NJ lifers Titus Andronicus will be one of the last bands to play at Maxwell's, which makes the whole thing doubly sad.
