BLACK Editions PSF label

Steve Lowenthal, the Fahey scholar behind the revered VDSQ label, has joined Black Editions—a label devoted to reissuing the catalog of the mightily respected Japanese label, P.S.F.. Based in Los Angeles, and founded by Peter Kolovos, Black Editions acquired the rights to the catalog in 2014, and, working alongside original P.S.F. figurehead Hideo Ikeezumi, will begin re-releasing the lost records in high quality, definitive editions this spring.

Though often shrouded in mystery and sometimes pressed in limited editions that barely made it out of Japan, P.S.F. became renown for their creative expression; ranging from psychedelic rock, folk and punk to jazz, free improvisation and the avant-garde, including such artists as Acid Mothers Temple, Keiji Haino, Fushitsusha, High Rise, White Heaven, Kaoru Abe, and Kan Mikami, among many more.

The first slate of reissues is set to include Fushitsusha’s 2nd Live, the original version of High Rise II, the Tokyo Flashback compilation, Che Shizu’s A Journey, and through special arrangement with the artist, Keiji Haino’s classic 1981 debut Watashi Dake?.
