No matter your opinion on the Middle East, there are a lot of people suffering along the Gaza Strip, where as many as 2,000 civilian lives have been lost and countless others injured or displaced by the fighting. Among the most affected are the children of Gaza, who suffer from a neglect of the most basic human right—a safe place to exist. This doesn’t even address the lack of housing, schooling, food, water, and other supplies, nor the long-lasting effect of bearing witness to the atrocities of war at such an impressionable age.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Shea Stadium and a host of other people to present a Gaza relief benefit show on November 22, featuring live performances by Mr. Twin Sister, Lost Boy?, EULA, and Brooklyn Nomads. All proceeds from the event will go to the Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance, (MECA) a non-profit organization based in Berkeley California working for the rights of children in the Middle East by sending humanitarian aid, supporting projects for children and educating North American and international communities about the effects of the US foreign policy on children in the region. You can view more specific details about their contributions here.
