With a name like that, Goner Records sure seems to have given the premature kiss-of-death to their showcase festival. Such is not the case, though, as they've just announced the line-up for their eighth annual Goner Fest, happening the 22-25 of September this year. The festival, which takes place in Memphis, Tennessee, will feature three evening showcases at the Hi-Tone, a Saturday afternoon ten band blowout at Murphy’s, opening and closing shows at the Goner Record Shop, and various daytime shows throughout the weekend.
Headlined by base-less R&B-tinged garage punk bastions The Gories, the festival will include more than 30 artists from around the world. Joining artists like Ty Segall, Midnite Snaxxx, Reverend John Wilkins, and Mean Jeans, who are a band of bands from Australia that includes Royal Headache, Straight Arrows, and Kitchen's Floor. While past shenanigans have elevated Goner Fest beyond a blip on the radar, the festival is still small enough to maintain a feeling of a basement show blown up. Both the tickets and the full-line have just gone up on their website here.
