Trying to figure out the plot of the video for Helado Negro’s “Regresa” is not an easy task. Is it about a young couple that, while trapped in a white room, must fend for themselves against stuffed wolves? Or maybe the taxidermied beasts are the only allowed witnesses to the couples forbidden nuptials? And what about the trippy out-of-body experience midway? Without a direct translation, one may never truly understand it. But the song is really great. It’s a cool mixture of sleepy vocals and dance-inducing synth-pop vibrations.
In support of his second album, Canta Lechuza, released in May on Asthmatic Kitty, Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange) will be touring with EMA for select shows in his native country of Ecuador as well as the Northeast and Canada.
