Shortly after announcing their curatorial debut at ATP's “I'll Be Your Mirror,” Portishead reveal that they will kick off their first North American tour in more than a decade.
The much-awaited return stateside has been long in the making. Technically in support of 2008's Third, the tour comes as a natural followup to ATP. Citing uncompromisable schedules, Portishead was only able to make it across the pond for Coachella in 2008, where they closed their set with an acknowledging “thanks for waiting” and plans for an eventual return. Beginning in October, the current touring band features Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow, and Adrian Utley joined by bassist Jim Barr, drummer Clive Deamer, and keyboardist John Baggott. Early tickets will be on sale July 12-14, and then available to the general public on July 15 and 16 (with the exception of Chicago, which has to wait until the 22). Tickets can be purchased on their website here.
