If you ask anyone who’s been, the folks at Walla Fest are notorious for their special brand of mystical DIY vibe curation—housed in an old theatre, the festival features weird lights, strange corridors, taxidermy, good books just laying around, performance art, amazing bands, and random places to nap—which is why we’re excited that they’ve just released the schedule and lineup for this years festival. Ranging from the psychedelic musings of Sea Cliff quartet Turnip King to the humorous word play of Philadelphia rapper Rhetoric Wallace the roster is as eclectic as it is enticing. For those of you still mourning the now defunct Rasputin’s Secret Police, Brandon Ayres will be playing a set as his solo project Brandon Can’t Dance .
For the last three years, Walla had been running out of a small theatre in Norristown, PA, right outside of Philadelphia. This year the group has decided to break out and move the festival to PhilaMOCA in North Philly, a space notorious for hosting shows and gallery openings.
The festival is taking place from August 8-9 and both days are broken up into four segments: doors and art show opening at 4PM, Early show at 5PM, film screenings at 7:40 PM, and the late show at 8:50PM. The schedule is as follows:
