The first ever show at Death By Audio, as the story goes, back when a young Todd P was curating shows within then bare walls, was a lineup that included the compositional half of Mick Barr’s creative process, Ocrilim. While we can’t seem to find evidence of who else played that night, we do know it happened on March 31, 2007 and we think Child Abuse was on the bill. Barr (Krallice, Orthrelm, Octis, Mossenek) has since uploaded a video of his performance from the venue’s great unveiling, which Impose’s Jeremy Krinsley summarized at the time,
[Barr] has tuned-in to the “baroque” extravagance of his competing guitar lines, played in suite against a series of dependable bass tracks. This is clearly one way to encapsulate Ocrilim: the virtuosity of speed metal smartened up for music school.
