Psychedelic space-rockers Wooden Shjips have a new LP coming out September 13 via Thrill Jockey. The result of their first time in a proper studio, West was mastered by Sonic Boom at Blanker Unisinn, with additional mastering from Heba Kadry at the Lodge in New York. The album concept is the American West as an abstraction and a locus of idealism: “Manifest Destiny, the vastness, and possibilities for reinvention.” Fittingly, the quartet will be heading out on a West coast tour after all of their rhythmic, elliptical toiling in the East. They've also dropped the first track off of West; you can now listen to the hazy-yet-energetic “Lazy Bones” race along like a steadfast pioneer on DMT.
