I cannot go a day without listening to at least one track from the debut album of Atlanta punkers Places To Hide’s debut album Almost Nothing. Singing lyrics like “This summer is so hot / And I just want to have sex with you” and “I cried myself to sleep again/ I now that that’s not punk” has become something of a daily routine to me, so when I checked my Facebook and saw that the band released a new song, I liked the post so hard that my finger should have gone through my trackpad.
The song, “Nowhere Bound”, balances between sardonic verses from singers Deborah Hudson and Kyle Swick and crashing jam breaks. While the track itself displays a more mature, restrained sound, the lyrics still favor the subject of youthful stagnancy and melancholy, perhaps best exemplified here by the lyrics “thought we’d live forever” and “work less, never die”.
Places To Hide have signed with Tiny Engines, who will be releasing their upcoming 7″ Wild N Soft in October.
