Last year LA-based producer Taurus Scott made his debut with LA indie rap label/collective Hellfyre Club. Once an in-house producer for G-Unit, Taurus Scott became an LA transplant after a series of fated meetings, one of which included Dibia$e who introduced him to Low End Theory Wednesdays, that directed his sound towards a style he calls Electronic Glitch Hop.
Since joining Hellfyre Club, his production has helped the label become one of the most innovative teams in Los Angeles rap, particularly his contributions to label sampler Dorner vs. Tookie. He brought the spectrum of his taste to our Friday Night mix series, incorporating his solo and remix work into tracks by Mount Kimbie, Juicy J, DJ Rashad, Druguse, and EPROM. From the outset of Busta Rhymes demanding we nod our heads to the point of breaking our necks, Scott's mix is a relentless assault of bass and bop. The most impressive aspect of his curation skills is the full 42 minutes was composed on the fly.
Taurus Scott's self-titled record is out now on Hellfyre Club.
