A recent post by computational genetics researcher Randal Olson mapped out the ideal American roadtrip, covering a city or landmark in each of the fifty states. LVL UP‘s American Minivan Summer Tour looks something like that. The tour hits the four points of a compass with a coterie of friends: starting in July, they catch fellow “UP” band Big Ups in the Midwest before linking with Upset in the Pacific Northwest. Basement and Whirr join the tour as it travels down the Californian coast and, jettisoning the latter, swings through the Southwest and South. Adventures and Palehound hook up with the bands for an early August east coast leg that ends at New York’s Irving Plaza.
On playing with Whirr, whose controversial internet presence alienates some fans, LVL UP expressed hope in a Facebook comment that they could, “leave at least a little bit of an impression on the audience who watch both our bands that inclusion, gratitude and friendliness is ever important in continuing to build a thriving community.”
Not content with supporting last year’s excellent Hoodwink’d, LVL UP will also release a new three-song EP “this summer” through their own Double Double Whammy imprint and Run for Cover Records. You can catch the teaser for that below along with a full list of tour dates above.
